Galleria is a Storefront child theme perfect for fashion and design stores. Stylish and minimalist, it gives sites a high class look and keeps products centerstage.
Give your fashion store a fresh look or start a brand new one with Galleria!
Galleria is the perfect child theme for high end fashion stores. The minimalist design will put your product images at the forefront of the visitor’s attention and WooCommerce handles the rest. Download Storefront and Galleria, activate a couple of Storefront extensions, play with the settings, and you have yourself a unique design for a dashingly good-looking fashion store.
Note: Galleria is a Child Theme for Storefront. You must have our Storefront theme installed as the base theme, in order to use Galleria.
As Galleria is a Storefront child theme, you will first need to install and set up Storefront itself. You can read all about installing that over on our Installing & Configuring Storefront documentation.
To install Galleria, upload the ‘galleria’ directory to your wp-content/themes directory.
Once uploaded / installed you can activate Galleria by navigating to Appearance > Themes.
Recommended Image Sizes
On product archives, Galleria reveals product details (price, title, ratings, add to cart button) on hover, so it’s highly recommended that you set catalog images to render in portrait orientation. Single / Thumbnail images can be set to any dimension without negative affect.
Below are the settings we use on our Galleria demo site for reference.
The original uploaded images are at a size of 577px in width by 866px in height before being uploaded. The WooCommerce image settings above can be located at WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Display.
Remember, once you update any image dimensions in WooCommerce you’ll need to run the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin to regenerate all pre-existing thumbnails and re-crop them to the new sizes that you selected.
Note: For further information on the WooCommerce image sizes you can reference these two resources below.
Product archive and shop layout
By default, Galleria arranges products using a ‘Masonry’ layout. This means that products are laid out adjacently regardless of their height.
In addition to this Galleria includes ‘product-focus’ styling that increases the size of products on the shop page which creates a unique and engaging design. Note that if you’re using the Storefront WooCommerce Customizer extension that the ‘product-focus’ styling is applied to 4 and 5 column layouts only. The reason for this is that 3 (and below) column layouts do not work very well with this style.
The Masonry and ‘product-focus’ layout might not be for every store and is ultimately dependent on the type of product imagery you have. As of Galleria 2.0, there’s an option to disable both the Masonry layout and the ‘product-focus’ styling.
In order to change the product layout,
- Go to:Dashboard > Appearance > Customize.
- Select Galleriain the customizer.
- Choosethe preferred layout.
Product demo content
To install some demo content for products as a starting point you can import the WooCommerce Dummy Data that will populate your site with demo products for you.
Note: We do not supply the exact images you see on our Galleria demo within the WooCommerce Dummy Data as the sites images cannot be redistributed due to copyright restrictions and are for demo purposes only. The WooCommerce Dummy Data instead comes with our own unique unrestricted images that we can redistribute within product import data.
